what should i be doing now?

Some things you should be doing now:
  • Schedule your senior one-on-one meeting with Mrs.Hjort in August or September.  If your parents want to attend, please invite them. (30 minute meeting should be enough time).  Prepare to bring the following with you:
    • Final list of Colleges
    • List of essays (number of essay, topics and due dates)
    • Deadline Plan (early action, early decision, rolling decision, regular decision)
    • Testing Plan
    • Recommendation requests
  • Draft your Common App Personal Statement essay.
  • Draft your supplemental essays.
  • Fill out the data section of the Common App, UC App and/or Individual College Applications.
  • Update Maia Learning with "Considering List" and move to "Applying List", if ready.
  • Request recommendations from teachers and counselor (Ask 2 teachers in case any college requires 2.  If a college requires 1 teacher recommendation, only 1 will be sent.)
  • Sign up for virtual College Visits to SV on Maia Learning.
  • Keep your college material and deadlines organized!
  • Create an email address to use for all things college related.  Be sure it reflects your maturity and check it 2-3 times a week as you progress through the application process.  Colleges use email to communicate with you.
  • Clean up your social media.  Assume everything you post is up for discussion.
