Dual Enrollment

Students have the opportunity to take classes at another school (i.e., community college, CSU or online) for several reasons:
  1. To make up a failing grade at SVdPHS.  This course must be made up through an accredited HS program online or remediated in the summer at SVHS.
  2. To gain transferable high school credit for a course that is not offered at SVdPHS (example: taking American Sign Language at SRJC in place of a foreign language at SVdPHS).  This course will be needed to fulfill the high school graduation  requirement and will be added to the academic units needed to graduate.
  3. To get an early start on their college experience and take college level courses above and beyond the graduation requirements at SVdPHS.

Taking a class outside of SVdPHS for Transferable High School Credit
A student wishing to take a class at another school or program (i.e., SRJC, COM or online program) that is already offered as part of the SVdPHS curriculum must have the prior approval by the Dean of Academics.  If the course is being used to fulfill a graduation requirement, the course (without the grade) will be listed in the notes section of the transcript.
Dual/Concurrent Enrollment Policy
Dual/Concurrent enrollment is designed to provide educational opportunities at the community college or online for students who can benefit from the college level instruction.

To participate, a SVDPHS student must:
  • Have parental and administrative approval.
  • Request courses which constitute an expansion of their high school courses, or courses not available at the high school.
  • Have a grade point average of 3.0 or better.
  • The offering of the course may not conflict with SVdPHS hours, 8:00 am-2:30 pm, M-F.
